Lang, the younger sister of recording artist Jonny Lang, has been proving her own talent in the past few years snagging a “Best New Artist” award and nomination for “Best Female Vocalist” from the Minnesota Music Awards.

Besides the great vocals, Lang is also multi-talented when it comes to instruments. She plays piano, viola, tenor sax and guitar.

The singer/songwriter has been busy this year with recording her first album. However, she is taking the time to tour around the United States on weekends.

Saturday, March 4 starts at 7:30 p.m. at Krypto Music Lounge, 308 W. State St., Rockford, with the debut of The Goran Ivanovic Group, a part of the Charlotte’s Web Legendary Concert Series.

The Goran Ivanovic Group offers a unique mix of jazz and classical music, a combination that creates a very distinctive type of Balkan music.

Formed in 2003, the band consists of Goran Ivanovic (guitar), Doug Rosenberg (saxophone and flute), Michael Caskey (drums) and Matt Ulery (double bass). Each member brings a variety of musical talent that is essential to their unique sound.

All members have played on various stages around the world, but as a group, their biggest followings are in the United States and Europe. They also play regularly at many prestigious venues in Chicago.

Their audiences stretch way beyond one or two types of ethnicities. This isn’t music just for Serbian and Balkan communities; it’s music for anyone who enjoys a unique and innovative sound.

The Goran Ivanovic Group will perform at Krypto Music Lounge beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Info: 965-0931 or

For those who still want to enjoy live music after the Goran Ivanovic Group, Chubby Rain will kick off its night of entertainment with Pistol Pete opening for Ronnie Baker Brooks.

Brooks got his start playing full-time in 1986 with his father Lonnie Brooks’ band. He tried going solo for a while, but decided to bring back his father’s live gigs and make them his own in 1999.

Since then, Brooks has wowed audiences with his talent as an accomplished guitarist, singer and song writer. He’s played with many top blues performers, including Albert Collins, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Luther Allison and Buddy Guy.

With two albums and a live DVD produced, Brooks is a blues genius not to be missed.

Pistol Pete and Ronnie Baker Brooks will perform at Chubby Rain House of Tunes at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Info: 765-1884 or
