Boone County Angel Tree Project

Boone County Angel Tree Project

The Boone County Farm Bureau Young Farmers Committee is currently sponsoring the 3rd Annual Angel Tree Project. The goal of this project is to collect toys to donate to children in Boone County who may not otherwise receive a gift for Christmas. This year, they hope to provide gifts for 325 children.

People may participate by taking an angel ornament from the Angel Tree during Hometown Christmas. The tree will be in the foyer of the Chamber of Commerce Building on Dec. 6. A description of an under-privileged child in Boone County will be on each ornament. The person who picks up the ornament will then purchase a $10-$15 gift for the child and deliver the unwrapped gift to the Boone County Farm Bureau at 702 W. Locust St., or the Belvidere Chamber of Commerce at 200 S. State St.

The Farm Bureau will wrap the gifts and deliver them to participating agencies, who will distribute the gifts to the children. If you would like to bring a gift to the tree during Hometown Christmas, the Farm Bureau will match your gift with a child on the tree. Gifts need to be delivered to the Farm Bureau office no later than Dec. 16, 2002, to ensure delivery before Christmas.

If you are unable to come to Hometown Christmas and would like to participate, please stop by or call the office at 547-7500. We hope to make Christmas a little brighter for some underprivileged Boone County Children.

Participating agencies include: Belvidere South Middle School, Lincoln School, Perry School, Belvidere Central Middle School, First Presbyterian Church, His Glory Mission and Alerta.
