Boone County Historical Society needs your help!
Most of the Boone County Historical Societys income comes from its investments, as they receive no tax support. With expenses increasing, they hope to find ways to provide more income to meet the everyday costs of keeping the museum open.
One of the plans is to hold a public auction at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the Community Building in Belvidere. None of the items that have been given to the society can be auctioned, so they are asking for contributions from the membership and from the community.
To make the effort worthwhile, the society wants only good quality pieces that are antiques or collectors items. In other words–no junque.
Most of us have something that we no longer use or enjoy. Heres your chance to donate it to a good cause. The income tax laws provide that a deduction can be taken for the realized price paid at the auction. A receipt will be provided upon request.
At the Oct. 17 event, viewing will begin at 5 p.m. The society needs pieces to sell as well as a good crowd of people to buy. Look around now with the idea of contributing one, two or more good items. Arrangements can be made to pick up your donations if you need assistance.
