Bottomless Closet joins YWCA’s

The YWCA will now provide the services of the Bottomless Closet of Rockford. The directors of the Bottomless Closet are closing the door on the independent enterprise, and transferring the program to the YWCA to continue serving the community, effective July 8, 2002.

Operating since September of 1999, the Bottomless Closet provides business clothing, free of charge to job-ready women needing assistance. It relies on private donations and volunteers to drive the mission of helping women on assistance achieve economic self-sufficiency and better lives for themselves and their families.

The YWCA will maintain the current operation with plans to expand services. The program will be renamed, but the essential services will remain unchanged. The YWCA program will continue to operate from the downtown location in the Morrissey Building at 127 N. Wyman St., Suite M1. For appointments or to make donations, call (815) 489-6772.
