Bourbon Street's Battle of the Bands nears final rounds

JT’s Bourbon Street Grille has announced the dates for the finals in the $1,000 Battle of the Bands contest.

The finals will be Sunday, Sept. 10, at JT’s Bourbon Street Grille. Beginning at 3 p.m., five weekly winners will vie for the first-place prize of $1,000 cash. Second- and third-place finishers will also be awarded prizes.

So far, four winners have landed spots in the finals. Blues Hawks, Bone Shed and Split Decision became the first three winners. Aug. 16, Endity emerged as the fourth preliminary winner, defeating Stereotype in a powerful evening of hard rock ’n’ roll.

A fifth weekly winner will be crowned tonight (Aug. 23) in the final preliminary round. A total of six bands will compete in the finals.

To determine which act will fill the sixth slot, three bands will perform again Wednesday, Sept. 30, sending one to the finals as a “wild card” entry.

Freestyle and Reign of Ruin are among the wild card participants that still have a chance to claim the $1,000 prize.

In addition to the $1,000 first prize, the winning band will also be the focus of a feature article in The Rock River Times.

JT’s Bourbon Street Grille is at 1407 N. Main St. in Rockford. Music starts at 8 p.m. Admission is free. For a list of competing bands, see The Rock River Times’ Vibe Entertainment calendars or call JT’s Bourbon Street Grille at 964-4400.
