Three NIC-9 teams will represent the area in the postseason ISHA state football playoffs.
Boylan, Belvidere and Rockford Guilford will all compete in the Class 7A division. All three schools will open with home games.
Boylan (8-1) will host Elgin Larkin (5-4), Algonquin Jacobs (6-3) will travel to Belvidere (8-1), and Guilford (7-2) will be at Swanson Stadium to take on Rolling Meadows (7-2). Dates and times were not available at press time.
In the 3A Division, Rockford Christian (7-2) will open the playoffs at home against Hampshire (6-3).
Boylan was crowned the NIC-9 champions Friday night, Oct. 20, following their 63-0 win over Rockford Jefferson. Boylan went 8-0 in the conference. Their only loss came on the road against non-conference opponent Neuqua Valley from Naperville. Boylan also set a NIC-9 record for fewest points allowed during a season with the team giving up 32 points over eight games.
Boylan will either play Friday night, Oct. 27, or Saturday night, Oct. 28. Local radio station WNTA 1330 AM will air the game live, if played Saturday afternoon. If the game is played Friday, the station will broadcast the game on WNTA.com and on cable channel 57. The station will air the IceHogs game live Friday, followed by a taped delay broadcast of the football game.
