Bus trip to Chicago’s Field Museum offers glimpse of China

A bus trip to view “Splendors of China’s Forbidden City” at Chicago’s Field Museum is planned for Saturday, July 24. The exhibit features nearly 400 treasures from the Imperial Court of Qianlong, including embroidered silk garments, jade-handled swords, paintings and other items never before seen outside Beijing.

After a leisurely visit to the museum, participants will have lunch at The Emperor’s Choice restaurant in the heart of Chinatown. The trip is conducted by the Rockford Society of the Archaeological Institute of America. Cost for transportation and admission to the exhibit is $35 for AIA members and $40 for non-AIA members. The price of lunch is not included in this cost. The bus will depart from Rockford College’s parking lot A at 8 a.m. and will return at approximately 5 p.m.
