Byron Civic Theatre announces auditions for The Nerd

Byron Civic Theatre auditions for the third show of the 2002-03 season, The Nerd, at 7 p.m., Monday Dec. 30, in the Sunderman Theatre inside Byron High School at 696 Colfax St.

The Nerd, a classic Midwestern comedy, shows the folly that ensues when Willum Cubbert, a spineless architect, is paid a surprise visit by the fellow who saved his life during the Vietnam War. Willum and his friends plot crazy and ridiculous schemes to rid the house of Rick, but ultimately it is up to Willum to say goodbye.

The following roles will be cast: Four men, two women and one boy approximately 7-9 years of age. The men are Willum and Axel, who are both in their late 20s or early 30s; Waldgrave, who is in his late 40s; and Rick, the Nerd, who is in his middle 30s. The two women are Tansy, who is in her late 20s or early 30s, and Cielia, who is in her late 40s. The Nerd will run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Feb. 7-16.
