Byron Civic Theatre brings the contemporary musical Aida to its stage Fridays-Sundays, July 28-30 and Aug. 4-6.
Elton John and Tim Rices Aida is a take on the classic tale of the love between a soldier and an enslaved princess. The love is a love that cannot be, but ultimately transcends the vast cultural differences between the two warring nations, heralding an unprecedented time of peace and prosperity for Egypt.
Aida is a modern crowd-pleaser, featuring stirring ballads and rousing choral numbers. The show also embraces a multi-cultural cast and exuberant dancing, staging and singing.
Friday and Saturday shows begin at 8 p.m., and Sunday matinee shows are at 2 p.m. Tickets ($9 adults, $7 seniors and $5 students) can be reserved by calling 234-3000 from 6 to 9 p.m., Monday-Tuesday and Thursday, and 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, or by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
