Byron Civic Theatre reveals season line-up

Byron Civic Theatre Board of Directors hosted their annual gala Saturday, May 20.

While entertaining the audience, the board announced the new season of shows. Opening the season will be Aida, a contemporary musical about a love story between a soldier and an enslaved princess—a love story that cannot be, but ultimately transcends the vast cultural differences between the warring nations.

Auditions for Aida will be Tuesday, June 6, for adults (high school graduates and older), and Thursday, June 8, for high school students. Both nights begin at 7 p.m. at the theater. Auditions for Aida will be different from past BCT auditions, so visit the Web site at for all the details. The cast of Aida is 20-30, including eight leading roles and a chorus of Egyptian ministers and soldiers who sing and dance, and a chorus of Nubian slaves who also sing and dance.

Show dates for Aida are: July 28-30 and Aug. 4-6. Director is Dan Danielowski.

To round out the 12th season will be 1940’s Radio Hour as the Christmas show, The Beverly Hillbillies as the dinner theater show, and, finally, The Pirates of Penzance. Byron Civic Theatre is thrilled to have such a great line-up of shows. If you would like to get involved by volunteering, contact the theater at or call (815) 234-3000.
