Caltagerone joins WNTA

Former Rockford School Board member starts July 26 as talk radio host

Stephanie Caltagerone, former Rockford School Board member (Sub District C), begins her new job as talk radio host on July 26 at locally-owned and operated WNTA, 1330-AM. Caltagerone will fill the weekday, 2 to 5 p.m. shift.

“I think talk radio offers a different avenue than newspapers or TV for people to voice their opinions directly. …It sounds like it will be fun and interesting, and there will be certain aspects relating to the schools that I can bring to the airwaves,” Caltagerone said.

She recently moved out of Rockford to Winnebago, but said she “still cares about issues affecting Rockford.” She added that this is another opportunity to “still serve the community.”

Caltagerone was a friend of former WNTA legend Chris Bowman. He died Feb. 3 at age 51. “I think of Chris as my mentor in a number of ways. He and I worked on a number of stories together,” she said.

Caltagerone graduated from Rockford East High School, attended Rock Valley College, and works in her family’s accounting business. From 1999 to 2003, Caltagerone served on the Rockford School Board. She is married with one high school-age son.

She fills the position that was previously occupied by Chuck Diamond, who left the station in January after being arrested for allegedly attacking his son.
