Capital Steps headline Lung Association gala

2004 marks the 100th anniversary of the American Lung Association. To celebrate this centennial milestone, the annual Critics’ Choice dinner, “Improving Life—One Breath at a Time,” will focus on the achievements and mission of the Association.

The renowned comedy troupe from Washington, D.C., The Capital Steps, will provide “election relief” as they dig into the political headlines of the day. This year’s gala is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 12, at Cliffbreakers Restaurant and Convention Center. Tickets are $70 or $700 for a table. Special corporate table offer of $600 a table is valid if reserved by Sept. 28 and includes a complimentary advertisement in the program book.

The evening begins with a social hour at 6 p.m., with a silent auction, raffle, dinner and the show beginning shortly after 8 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the programs of the northern region of American Lung Association of Illinois, along with vital medical research for America’s third leading cause of death.

Since they began, The Capital Steps have recorded 24 albums, including their latest, “Papa’s Got a Brand New Baghdad.” They’ve been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC and PBS, and can be heard four times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their “Politics Takes a Holiday” radio specials.
