Carl Cole organizes King celebration

‘Let Freedom Ring’ celebration hosted by Rockford College and Mendelssohn Performing Arts

Rockford College and Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center (MPAC) will host a “Let Freedom Ring” celebration in honor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 15, 2007.

The event will be at MPAC, 415 N. Church St. Organizers are hoping to have 3- to 5-minute presentations from students from area schools. All interested in music, art, drama and dance are invited to a two-day rehearsal workshop from 2 to 4 p.m., Dec. 21-22, at the Salvation Army Millennium Community Center, 220 S. Madison St.

Event participants will be eligible to be involved in future “Unity in Diversity” events and CD/DVD recording projects.
