The North Suburban Library District will celebrate Teen Read Week (Oct. 17-23) with two Cartooning Workshops for Teens. The first workshop will be held Monday, Oct. 18, at the North Suburban Library/Roscoe, 5562 Clayton Circle, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. There will be one the following day, Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the North Suburban Library/Loves Park, 6340 N. Second St., from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Both workshops will be taught by Dick Kulpa, the owner of Crack Magazine. Kulpa will demonstrate how to draw cartoons and superheroes with plenty of hands-on opportunities for teens to create their own designs. Kulpa has been a cartoonist for more than 30 years and has taught cartooning classes at Rock Valley College. Each teen attending the workshops will receive a free copy of Crack Magazine. Both events are free and will cover the same material. Teens are welcome to bring in their own artwork to be critiqued. For more information, phone the libraries at 623-6266, ext. 4, or 633-4247, ext. 4.
