Celebrate Grandparents Day in Dahlquist Park
In celebration of Grandparents Day, the nonprofit group Family in Gods Embrace will hold a GraceWalk on Saturday, Sept. 7, starting at 9 a.m. at Dahlquist Park. The park is located behind the Valley View Apartments, East State Street and Warren Avenue.
The group asks your help in its mission to build family-style homes for the elderly. This way, our grandparents and elderly may age with grace with their peers.
The mission of Family in Gods Embrace is to enrich the lives of seniors by providing them compassion, companionship, and a purposeful life in a family-style home. Family in Gods Embrace fills the void between maintaining a home or apartment and living in a nursing home. Each home consists of 8 to 10 family members along with a house shepherd who oversees services and activities for the house. Family members enjoy the following benefits for a monthly fee:
l Private bedroom/restroom furnished with their personal treasures;
l Common living areas for dining, socialization and entertainment;
l Pleasant conversations over home-cooked meals;
l Peer support for activities like daily exercise, outings and household events;
l A Christian environment where participation in church and community activities abound.
Family in Gods Embrace is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt corporation directed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
