Center for Learning in Retirement gears up for spring

Seniors, stay physically and mentally fit in 2006 by participating in the programs from Rock Valley College’s (RVC) Center for Learning in Retirement (CLR).

The Center is again offering the Golden Eagles Fitness Program to its members. The dates are Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, through Friday, April 21, 2006. This is a unique opportunity to exercise independently three times a week for one-hour sessions between the hours of 7 and 10 a.m. All classes are under the supervision of RVC staff.

Members use the equipment and facilities of the Physical Education Center at RVC. Cardiovascular exercise, weight-lifting machines and instructor-led group sessions are only a few of the benefits available for a fee of $90 per semester. An orientation session, Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, from 7 to 9 a.m., is important for all new members to attend.

The 2006 catalog of courses for the winter/spring term comes out the first week in January. This “lifelong learning” experience is open to all people 50 and older. More than 100 courses are available in the arts, humanities, social sciences and physical sciences. Membership to the Center is $22 per year.
