An open house is scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at the Center for Sight & Hearing at 8038 Macintosh Lane, Rockford. The event will focus on the cost and development of a hearing clinic at the Center, which will provide audiology services to individuals in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
The most common causes of hearing loss are noise and aging.World-wide, 280 million people have a hearing loss. Twenty-eight million people in the United States could improve their hearing with hearing aids, but only 8 million seek help.
Binaural (two) hearing aids cost between $3,600 and $5,200, digital programmable hearing aids cost between $2,200 and $4,800, and analog hearing aids cost between $1,400 and $4,800. Medicare and most companies do not cover the cost of hearing aids.
