Chamber hires Tom Seymour as manager of Government Affairs

Gary Peters, president and CEO of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce, announced today that he’s hired Tom Seymour, a popular talk show host for WROK 1440AM, as the new manager of Government Affairs. Seymour replaces Conor Brown, who accepted a job recently with the Illinois Association of Realtors.

Seymour will join the Chamber on Sept. 11 at its new headquarters on the first floor of the Stewart Square building in downtown Rockford. He will manage the Government Affairs Council and be proactive on the issues that impact the Chamber membership.

“Tom will be a great addition to the Chamber staff because of his knowledge of Rockford and the surrounding area, as well as on the timely issues we’re dealing with in the Government Affairs Council,” Peters said. “One of the most important benefits of Chamber membership is representing the interests of business with government. Tom will help us in achieving this.”

Seymour brings to the Chamber a bachelor’s degree from Bradley University in Peoria and a master’s degree from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. He served on the Winnebago County Board from 1978 to 1984 and from 1994 to 1998.
