GALENA, Ill.—Residents and visitors alike are invited to get out of the cold, win prizes and see a replica of the three-time World Series Champion Paul Newman-Carl Haas Champ Car at Galena’s Eighth Annual Business Showcase from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 3, at the Galena Convention Center, U.S. Hwy. 20 W. Admission is free.

The popular late-winter event, sponsored by the Galena Area Chamber of Commerce, is a fun opportunity for the public to learn under one roof what more than 60 area businesses, agencies and non-profits have to offer. While learning, attendees can sample free food and beverages and register for more than $1,000 in door prizes.

Free food samples and drinks will be provided by Boone’s Place, Dick’s Piggly Wiggly and at many booths. The Sinsinawa Dominicans will sell breads and pastries, and Happy Joe’s will sell pizza slices and pop.

Participants may also purchase tickets for the Chamber’s Galena Area Restaurant Gift Certificate Raffle at $1 each. Winners will be drawn at the “Spring Music on Main” street dance, May 19.

“There will be things for all ages to enjoy,” said Jim Anderson, event coordinator. “And this year, the Showcase will expand downtown. Many businesses there have donated merchandise and gift certificates to give away at the convention center, and some will be awarding door prizes in their Main Street stores as well.”

The Galena Convention Center is handicapped-accessible and has plenty of free parking, including handicapped parking spaces near the entrance. The Convention Center is in Galena Square, next to Stoney Creek Inn. From Highway 20, turn by U.S. Bank, then turn right at the stop sign and proceed past the Inn.

The Galena Area Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit membership organization founded in 1838, the oldest chamber in Illinois. It serves to advance the commercial, agricultural, industrial, civic, tourism and economic welfare interests of its members in Galena and the surrounding area.
