Charlotte’s Web offers three acts

Charlotte’s Web presents three exciting talents in two performances this weekend. Mark your calendars for Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, March 26, at 8 p.m., hear Peter Lang and Michael Gulezian in concert at the Mendelssohn Club, 415 N. Church St. Peter Lang, Leo Kottke and John Fahey comprise the holy trinity of “American Primitive” fingerstyle innovation. Lang’s music is a lesson in technical wizardry, tenderness and guile—dazzling guitar playing that makes you ask the person next to you, “Did he really just do that?”

Michael Gulezian creates beauty and passion that transcends the written word. As kindred spirit of Michael Hedges, Gulezian lights 6- and 12-string fingerstyle-fire and mesmerizes audiences with his technical virtuosity as well as his sensitive and soulful vocals.

Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.

At 8 p.m., Saturday, March 27, treat yourself to Mad Agnes at the North End Neighborhood Coffee Bar, 1408 N. Main St. A link back to that addictive sound of progressive alternate folk groups like Steeleye Span, Fairport Convention and Renaissance. Mad Agnes is bursting with the musical qualities that adored us to those aforementioned groups—definitely magic. A must if you are a fan of beautiful, intricate harmonies. Come early to try the North End’s delicious soups, sandwiches, coffees, salads and sweets.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Tickets are available at the Mendelssohn Club, 415 N. Church St., 964-9713 (Lang & Gulezian); Rockford Area Arts Council, 713 E. State St., 963-6765; The Postal Shoppe, Edgebrook Center, 397-7301; and Tin Whistle, N. Main & Auburn, 963-0270; or by mail with check and SASE, 10928 N. Main, Rockton, IL 61072.
