Rick Nielsen, Robin Zander, Bun E. Carlos and Tom Petersson are the Rockford musicians who make up this English Rock-inspired band. Cheap Trick signed on with Epic Records in 1976, releasing its first album one year later. Cheap Trick is known for unique and darkly humorous lyrics, a pack of devoted fans, and Nielsen, who uses a different guitar for each song and throws handfuls of guitar pics to screaming fans.

Me,” “Dream Police,” and a remake of Elvis Presley’s “Don’t Be Cruel.” Cheap Trick’s album Heaven Tonight was recently named one of the “Coolest Albums of All Time” by Rolling Stone magazine. Cheap Trick has also written several original soundtracks for movies such as Encino Man, Caddyshack II and Gladiator.

Cheap Trick found that its popularity came back in the ’90s when many alternative bands began to announce they were heavily influenced by the style of Cheap Trick. The group released a “greatest hits” collection in 1991 right after its break from Epic Records.

This will be the third time Cheap Trick has performed at On The Waterfront.

“It is only fitting that we close our 20th anniversary celebration with the group who put rock music on the map in Rockford,” said Becky Genoways, president and CEO of On The Waterfront, Inc.

As Rick Nielsen inscribes in many of his guitars, “You Know You Like It,” so come out and see them rock the stage at this year’s On The Waterfront Festival.
