You can watch the water rise and fall at five locations in Illinois from the comfort of your favorite chair. Just go to http://waterdata.usgs.gov/il/nwis/rt.
What you will see when you get there is a map of Illinois with the counties marked out on it and hundreds of dots. Each dot represents a recording station on a body of water in the state. To view the data from your particular river or lake simply find your county (Winnebago is at the top, third from the left) then click on one of the dots. You will get a graph that shows the last seven days of recording up to the moment you pushed the mouse.
