Chicago artist Andrew Young scheduled for Gallery Talk
Andrew Youngs beautiful collages and paintings are the subject of Rockford Art Museums exhibition in Kuller Gallery. The exhibit is entitled Andrew Young: Collages and Ocean Earth. Opening last month, Youngs work will remain in the Museum until Nov. 4. The artist will conduct a Gallery Talk about his work, including a discussion about his use of imagery and technique. The Gallery Talk will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18 in Kuller Gallery. No reservations are necessary. The fee for the Gallery Talk is $3 for RAM members, $5 for non-members.
Youngs combined training in biology and as an artist results in a blending of subject and style as seen in his collages of rich, yet subtle textural, color and surface variation. Multi-layered images evoke memory and issues of time passing and loss. Occasional bits of personal memorabilia highlight the intimate nature of the pieces. The artists extensive knowledge of and expertise in the use of egg tempera will certainly be an additional part of his talk.
Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 972-2880.
