The Chicago Bears youth football summer camp will be returning to Rockford this June. The five-day program will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, June 25 through Friday, June 29, at Rock Valley College, 3301 N. Mulford Rd. The non-contact program is designed for children 6-14 years old.
The cost to attend the camp is $355. Anyone who signs up prior to April 6 will receive a $25 discount. The cost includes instruction by former Bears players such as running back Robin Earl, wide receiver Kris Haines, linebacker Jim Morrissey, cornerback Allan Ellis and others. Joining the former Bears will be a host of professional educators with coaching experience at the high school, college and professional level. Optional round-trip, door-to-door bus transportation is available for the entire week for an additional $100.
Athletic skills, football skills, teamwork, fitness, leadership, self-confidence, sportsmanship and nutrition will all be addressed during the week. Camp participants will learn all football playing positions: quarterback, running back, wide receiver, linebacker, defensive back, line play, kicking and punting.
In addition to the teaching portion of the camp, attendees will also receive an official camp T-shirt, great prizes, photos and autographs. Friday, the program concludes with a special skills challenge and the presentation of post-camp awards.
Sports Illustrated for Kids rated this camp the No. 1 Illinois Summer Camp for Kids. In addition to the Rockford camp, the Bears will conduct camps throughout the Chicago suburban area during June and July.
