The children of Childrens Theater Project present Annie Jr., a part of the Music Theater International Broadway Junior collection. Performances will be held at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., April 9 and 2 p.m., April 10 at Rockford Theater at Rockford Womans Club, 317 Park Ave.
Annie Jr. is the story of Little Orphan Annie, who lives in an orphanage during the Depression but is far from depressed. Her positive attitude and bubbly personality get her noticed by Daddy Warbucks, the richest man in the world. The story relates, through song, dance, and a number of touching scenes, how the friendship grows between Annie and Daddy Warbucks.
This performance of the Broadway Musical boasts two casts composed of more than 60 children, and includes such great songs as Tomorrow, Maybe, Little Girls, NYC, Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile.
Cast members are children ages 6-13 who come from all over the Rockford, Winnebago and Boone County area. The cast has dedicated every Saturday morning since January to rehearse and polish the show. The cast includes veteran performers along with those who are new to the stage.
Through workshops like Annie Jr., CTP hopes to fill the gap in performance opportunities and education that exist in the Rockford area. Through performance workshops, we hope to bring children from all walks of life together to work as a team, learn as a team, and perform as a team. This workshop has led more than 60 children on a path of discovery and growth that has led to: Confidence, Discipline, Friendship, Understanding, Teamwork, Focus, Creativity and much more.
This is CTPs third year and seventh workshop. Audience attendance continues to grow due to a reputation for producing high-quality childrens theater that not only entertains parents, but the community at large.
Rockford Theater at Rockford Womans Club has a professional stage with a seating capacity of more than 800.
Childrens Theater Project is happy to provide any additional needed promotional materials.
Annie Jr. is a part of the Broadway Junior Collection and presented with permission of Music Theater International. The CTP production Annie Jr. is funded in part by a grant from the Rockford Arts Council.
