Children’s Theater Project presents Dream On

Dream On is a musical comedy based on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This play, written by Malcolm Sircom, is a humorous retelling of a classic that brings Shakespeare’s writings to the modern day.

The show is set during the run-up to the Olympic Games in Athens, and uses some of Shakespeare’s more beautiful passages. It’s fresh, invigorating and riotously funny.

This show combines a broad collection of music, including blues, Flamenco, a Conga, a Latin American Tango and a rock number appropriately called “Rock Bottom” together with beautiful lyrical songs to make this a brilliant musical.

Dream On is Shakespeare without the complicated language and packed full of toe-tapping songs.

Thirty-six cast members ages 12-17 have come together since February from all over Winnebago and Boone County to rehearse for this production.

Dream On marks Children’s Theater Project’s first show for the older youth and teens.

Children’s Theater Project has been growing for four years, and this is its 10th workshop.
