Children’s Theatre Camp at Pec Playhouse

Pec Playhouse Theatre, providing quality community theater and theater opportunities for 12 seasons, will conduct its fifth annual Children’s Theatre Camp, Monday through Friday, June 9-13 at Pec Playhouse Theatre, 314 Main St. in Pecatonica. The Theatre is especially pleased to announce that well-known area performer and theatre educator Jim Crow will conduct the Theatre Camp.

The Theatre Camp was established in 1998 to offer area youth the opportunity to learn and have fun with acting, and to participate in the creation of a production. This year’s camp will consist of five daily sessions from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a half-hour lunch break. Each session will consist of theatre games and exercises, basic introductions to painting, costumes and makeup, plus rehearsal for an end-of-week production. Performances of the production will be at 6 and 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 13.

A former director of Starlight Theatre at Rock Valley College, Crow has 33 years experience working with children of all ages and is the founder of Hickory-Dickory Children’s Theatre at the Clock Tower Resort. He most recently completed the stage direction for the all-city musical The Wiz at the Coronado Theatre.

Enrollments are now open for all youth going into grade 1 through 8, and no prior theater epxerience is necessary. Cost of the theater camp is $60 per child, and each child will receive a Theatre Camp T-shirt and “graduation certificate” at the end of the week. Registration is still open; parents may leave a voice message at the box office number and request a registration form.
