Be cool and skate with Ronald McDonald Wednesday, July 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Carlson Ice Arena, 4150 N. Perryville Rd., Loves Park. The Northern Illinois Skating Club invites all Rockford area figure and hockey skaters to join special celebrity skater during the Skate-A-Thon fund-raiser for the regional Care Mobile and St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
Skaters are asked to recruit sponsors, skate at the Skate-A-Thon, and collect pledges afterward. Pledge sheets are available at the skating kiosk in the lobby at Carlson Ice Arena, or from Liz Schultz by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If skaters are not available to skate that evening, they can still participate by obtaining a pledge sheet and sponsors, skating at their own convenience, collecting pledges, and turning in their pledge sheets and donations to Liz Schultz at Northern Illinois Skating Club by Wednesday, July 13th.
All skaters will receive a McDonalds coupon for participating. A special award will go to the skater who collects the most donations, and a prize drawing will be held for participating skaters who collect at least $25 in donations.
The regional Ronald McDonald Care Mobile has provided 1,700 uninsured children with school physicals, immunizations, dental care, vision and developmental screenings in its two years of operation in the area. St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital provides cancer care for children and researches cancer treatment protocols.
Stay cool in July at the Skate-A-Thon at summer ice, and join Northern Illinois Skating Club in helping kids in the Rockford area and the kids at St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
