Registration is underway for Rockford Park District summer day and resident camps, where children can enjoy activities with opportunities to form lasting friendships, and come away with memories that can last a lifetime! New for 2005, Nature Quest day camp for children ages 5-10 provides a different theme and nature/environment related activity each week, along with traditional camp activities at Aldeen Park.
For youth ages 9-14, the focus is on recreation and exploration at Lone Oak co-ed resident camp along the scenic Kishwaukee River corridor at Atwood Park with a different theme each week, chosen by the campers. Archery, river exploration, hiking, and flat water canoeing are among activities included at Camp Lone Oak.
Both camps offer family night on Thursdays, and environmental awareness and appreciation activities. Camp sessions are offered weekly June 20-Aug. 8. Completed registration forms with payment are accepted on a first come, first served basis by mail, fax (credit card only), and in person at the Park District Sinnissippi Park Office, 1401 N. 2nd St., Rockford.More info: Stop by Park District facilities, the Sinnissippi Park Office, on the Web at www.rockfordparkdistrict.org or by calling 987-8800 (TTY, 963-DEAF).
