Tickets go on sale to the general public on Nov. 15 for Byron Civic Theatres holiday production of Christmas Kaleidoscope. BCT will once again kick off the holiday season with this musical extravaganza of songs, dances, and comedy that is guaranteed to leave you filled with the holiday spirit. From the moment you enter the theater and see the spectacular Christmas set, until you leave the theater humming the familiar songs, you will marvel at the talent on stage.
The cast has been busy learning all new songs for this third production of the holiday favorite. Kaleidoscope features 19 singers and dancers, 13 musicians, more than 35 youth performers, and dozens of designers and tech crew. Featured in the cast is a group of Midwestern cowboys who perform Christmas songs in a Texas swing style. The BarCT Wranglers perform music and comedy in the style of The Sons of the Pioneers and The Dixie Cowboys.
The close harmonies are really challenging to perform, said Phil McMillin, member of the group. We start by all singing the melody and then work on the more difficult harmonics.
Later in the show, the performers return as the comic country-rap group RunBCT.
We used to be called RunGMC, which was a combination of the rap group RUNDMC and the GMC from the GMC pickup truck, said director Dan Danielowski. But when I found a group out there that actually had that name, I thought we better change ours to RunBCT.
Christmas Kaleidoscope opens on Friday, Nov. 26 and continues Nov. 27, and December 3-4 at 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 28 and Sunday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m.
Tickets go on sale Nov. 11 for members and Nov. 15 for the general public. You can get tickets by calling 234-3000 during box office hours, or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Box office hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until noon.
