Plain White T’s, Spitalfield co-headliners

Quite a lot has been happening in the world of the Plain White T’s since singer Tom Higgenson sat down with The Rock River Times just a few short months ago (July 20-26, 2005, issue).

In early July, Higgenson told of how he and his bandmates Dave Tirio (guitar), Mike Retondo (bass), De’Mar Hamilton (drums) and Tim Lopez (guitar) had toiled in the Chicago punk underground for the last eight years, searching for the break that would propel them from one of the Windy City’s best-kept secrets to the upper echelons of pop punk prowess.

In a mere 14 weeks since the interview, the PWTs have started to make their goal a reality. A successful stint on the Van’s Warped Tour, coupled with steady promotion from Fuse TV (the punk alternative to MTV), has placed the band firmly in the limelight. The band is playing to bigger crowds, new fans and with attention from several major labels.

Saturday, Nov. 26, marks their return to the Rockford area, taking the stage as a headliner at Chubby Rain House of Tunes in Poplar Grove. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. and tickets are $10.

Co-headlining the show is Spitalfield, another of Chicago’s blossoming punk acts. Spitalfield, which has toured locally and nationally for the last seven years, is getting a great deal of attention after the release of its latest album—Stop Doing Bad Things—earlier this year.

The band’s stop in Poplar Grove is only the second show of the East Coast/Midwest tour, which keeps them on the road together until just before Christmas. Opening acts are The Audition and Dropping Daylight.
