Church shares details of mall renovation

Mark Bankord, directional leader of Heartland Community Church, announced that Heartland’s final services at the 601 N. Perryville Rd. location were to be Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 21-22. Heartland has been in the Perryville location for the last eight years.

The first weekend experiences at the newly renovated facilities at Colonial Village Mall will happen Dec. 2-3, and will feature Bill Hybels, founder of Willow Creek Community Church, in person at all four services, 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., Saturday, and 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., Sunday. An Open House will follow the Sunday experience from 2 to 5 p.m. The entire facility will be open to the public.

“Heartland isn’t changing how we do church, just where we do it,” Bankord said. “The new facilities will allow many more people to come and experience the transformational worship and teaching that has helped to change the lives of thousands of people here in the Rockford area.”

Mike Breaux, teaching pastor at Willow Creek, is scheduled to teach Dec. 9-10. Gene Appel, senior pastor at Willow, will teach Dec. 16-17.
