A free Civil War display and recruiting symposium will be held at Memorial Hall, 211 N. Main St., Rockford, from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 14. Antique and reproduction military paraphernalia and field gear will be displayed, as well as home front domestic arts. Male and female re-enactors will be on hand to demonstrate and answer questions.
President Lincolns Birthday Ball will be held Feb. 15 at Memorial Hall, with live period musical entertainment and dancing from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided. Period civilian or military dress not required, and a dancemaster will be on hand to instruct all from novice to veteran. Admission is free, but a recommended donation of $10 per person is appreciated.
The public is invited to either or both events.
