Civil War Ball Feb. 10 at Memorial Hall

Memorial Hall, 211 N. Main St., will host a Civil War Ball Feb. 10 in honor of President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday.

The event is sponsored by Battery G, 2nd Illinois Artillery, a local Civil War reenactment group.

Reception is from 7 to 8 p.m. A live period string band will perform, with dancing from 8 to 11 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.

Acceptable dress is Civil War period civilian and military, or modern casual-to-formal wear. No dance experience is required, as there will be a dance caller.

Admission is free, but a recommended donation of $10 per person is appreciated.

Battery G, 2nd Illinois Artillery is a nonprofit Civil War reenactment and educational resource organization based in northern Illinois, with members from as far away as eastern Iowa, southern Wisconsin and the Chicago area. Events include several Midwestern community-sponsored battles and living histories, and annual National battle recreations in the Eastern and Southern U.S. A period civilian contingent is often attached to Battery G in the field and for demonstrations.
