Cleve Jones to speak on story of AIDS Memorial Quilt

Rockford College will host Cleve Jones, who will lecture on “We Bring a Quilt: The Story of the AIDS Memorial Quilt” at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, in Maddox Theatre.

Cleve Jones is the founder of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt. As founder, Jones has been on the front lines of the global struggle against HIV for more than 15 years. The idea of the AIDS Memorial Quilt was conceived by Jones in 1985. Since then, it has grown to become the world’s largest community arts project, memorializing the lives of more than 815,000 Americans who have died of AIDS.

Maddox Theatre is in the Clark Arts Center on the Rockford College Campus and is accessible. The event is free. For more information, call the Box Office at (815) 226-4100.
