Clock Tower Resort unveils name, theme for multi-million-dollar water part expansion

The owners of one of the Rockford area’s most popular destination hotels have announced the theme and name for the newest addition to the Clock Tower Resort.

The 60,000-square-foot indoor water park feature, slated to open in November 2006, has been named “CoCo Key Water Resort.” CoCo Key will feature decor and atmosphere that reflect tropical appeal of historic Key West. A region known for constant sunshine, clear seas and welcoming tropical environment, CoCo Key Water Resort captures the relaxing character of the Keys and the enchantment of the island. Brightly colored cabanas, swaying palms, fragrant hibiscus, native artwork and thatched roofs will welcome visitors to the region’s newest water resort.

Beyond the addition of CoCo Key Water Resort, the multi-million-dollar Clock Tower renovation includes a new lobby, restaurant and lounge; extensive renovation of meeting space, ballroom, and public areas; and updated guest rooms, featuring new decor and furnishings.

“CoCo,” the resort’s soon-to-be-famous parrot, will come to life not only as CoCo Key’s mascot and logo feature, but also its live ambassador. CoCo will make his home inside the resort, entertaining visitors, posing for pictures with resort guests and attending birthday parties and special events. With more than 60,000 square feet of water resort attractions, CoCo Key Water Resort features three thrilling water slides, an activity pool, “dip-in” floating movie theater, indoor adventure river, indoor/outdoor spa, outdoor splash pad, snack bar, lounge, arcade, cabanas, bar, private function and birthday party spaces.

Construction began on the new additions in November 2005. Horizon Development Group is managing construction of the project. WPH Rockford LLC, D/B/A Clock Tower Resort, an affiliate of Denver-based hotel management company Sage Hospitality Resources, purchased Clock Tower Resort in late 2005. Wave Development and Sage are partners in acquiring hotels across the country and adding amenities that dramatically enhance the visitor experience, such as the water resort.
