Coffee Talk addresses jail referendum issue


Rockford Urban Ministries and Rockford Peace & Justice Action Committee will host a program on “The Referendum on the Overcrowded Jail,” 7:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 16 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 4848 Turner St., Rockford (three blocks north and east of Alpine and State streets).

Mary Ann Aiello, Winnebago County Board member (R-8), will discuss the upcoming jail referendum. Ms. Aiello will discuss the need for a new jail and the overcrowding of the present facility. Members of the jail staff will also be available for questions.

The program is free and open to the public, and is co-sponsored by the Rockford League of Women Voters, and the Unitarian Universalist Jail Alternatives Task Force.
