Cohn seeks debate

Winnebago County Board Chairman Kris Cohn, running as a Republican candidate for Illinois Secretary of State, is challenging incumbent Jesse White to a debate.

Cohn wants to talk about security issues as they relate to the state office. “As you know,” she wrote White, “one year ago some of the terrorists who boarded the doomed planes did so with driver’s licenses that were obtained by bribing Secretary of State’s employees in other states.”

Cohn continued by saying: “The people of Illinois demand to know what steps have been and should be taken to prevent the illegal distribution of driver’s licenses in this state. The public deserves a Secretary of State that is beyond reproach.”

She suggested the two campaigns coordinate their schedules to permit debates in Chicago, Du Quoin, Rockford, Peoria and Springfield. The times and locations are to be worked out.

Cohn is scheduled to appear Sunday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. on WLS radio, 890 AM, on a regularly broadcast talk show. The call-in number is 1-312-591-8900.
