Current, new or returning residents of the Washington Park neighborhood are encouraged to participate in a community survey being taken to seek input to assist with further development of the neighborhood, including recreation programming at the Districts Washington Park Community Center.
According to Barb Baptista una Freund, Rockford Park District senior manager of Operations: The revitalization of this important neighborhood is not only bricks and mortar as new homes are completed. With families now moving in and getting settled, we would like residents to complete the survey to let us know their thoughts and desires for leisure, recreation, and education.
Surveys were mailed to 2,256 households with return postage-paid envelopes. Residents are urged to return the surveys by Dec. 4.
The survey is anonymous, and results will be tabulated and reported by Health Systems Research. The survey results will be widely shared with residents of the neighborhood when the report is available later this year.
If residents would like to participate in a family recreation prize drawing, completed surveys may be dropped off at Springfield BP, the Way Low Gas Station, Ubiquity Records, or Crusader Clinic on West State Street.
Barb concluded: We are absolutely committed to building strong families, healthy neighborhoods, and opportunities for people to enjoy life. This is an exciting time of revitalization for Washington Park, and the community center will continue to serve the interest of residents in the neighborhood with high-quality programs and first-rate recreational facilities for many years to come.
The survey is being conducted by Health Systems Research, University of Illinois College of Medicine, on behalf of the City of Rockford, Winnebago County Housing Authority, and the Rockford Park District.
