Winnebago County is seeking a new tenant for Memorial Hall, which will be vacated by the Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (RACVB) in early summer. The RACVB, which has occupied the main floor of the building for the past several years, is moving to a new location in the former Metropolitan on the northwest corner of State and Main in downtown Rockford.
The County is asking any interested not-for-profit agency or governmental entity to respond to the County Purchasing Department, 404 Elm St., Room 202, Rockford, IL 61101. The County intends to lease the south side of the first floor approximately 1,200 square feet, while returning the north side plaque rooms to public access for viewing. The rental price will be negotiated between the tenant and the County.
The tenant shall have the right to the exclusive occupancy of the leased area; however, the tenant shall allow public access to the building during normal hours of operation. The tenant shall be responsible for the daily opening and closing of Memorial Hall for its use, Monday through Friday, with holidays agreed upon by the parties. The tenant will have meetings on a reservation basis.
The primary purpose of Memorial Hall is to serve as a memorial to the military veterans of the County. Various memorial artifacts are displayed throughout the Hall for public viewing. Memorial Hall is also available to various civic and public organizations as a site to hold meetings and other functions on a rental basis. Information on renting the Hall is available by calling the County Board Chairmans Office, at 987-2590.
