Crazy for You at Coronado Nov. 1

Crazy For You, the vibrant Gershwin extravaganza filled with song and dance and Ken Ludwig’s hilarious dialogue, comes to the Coronado Theatre for one performance at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 1.

Tickets for the performance, which range from $31 to $51, are available online at, or charge by phone at 815-968-5222.

Crazy For You is the hilarious romp of a stage-struck playboy in a Nevada mining town where romance, mistaken identities, and show-stopping musical numbers add up to irresistible fun. The audience will be swept up in an artfully constructed tale of boy meets girl in the Wild West. The romance, mistaken identity, and ribald humor of the story are underscored by the glorious music of two of America’s most prolific composers/lyricists, George and Ira Gershwin, featuring such standards as “I’ve Got Rhythm,” “Embraceable You,” “Someone To Watch Over Me,” “They Can’t Take That Away from Me,” and “Nice Work If You Can Get It.”

Crazy For You opened at the Shubert Theatre Feb. 19, 1992, to critical acclaim. Frank Rich of The New York Times said, “The show is bursting with original talent that takes off on its own cocky path, pointedly mocking recent British musicals even as it sassily rethinks the American musical tradition stretching from the Gershwins to Michael Bennett.”

Four years and 1,643 performances later, the final Broadway curtain dropped. Crazy For You had won three Tony’s, two Drama Desk Awards, and five Outer Critics Awards. Clearly, Crazy For You is a golden national treasure that will be loved by all!
