Credit counseling agency expands Rockford presence

Family Credit Counseling Service (FCCS), Illinois’ largest credit counseling agency, recently celebrated the purchase of a new financial literacy center at 2239 Charles St.

The site will host financial workshops and seminars, including the Get Checking program, designed to help consumers successfully manage an existing bank account and help unbanked consumers obtain an account.

“This expansion is a sign of our commitment to Rockford,” said FCCS President Michael McAuliffe. “FCCS has doubled in size since moving its national headquarters from Chicago to Rockford four years ago, and we plan to hire up to 50 additional employees over the next two years.”

FCCS’s current corporate offices are at 4304-06 Charles St., with branch offices in Chicago, Bloomington, and Topeka, Kan.

FCCS is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit, non-denominational Christian debt management agency that assists families and individuals with free budget counseling and debt management solutions. Those in financial crisis may be able to receive reduced payments with creditors, as well as reduced interest rates. FCCS is licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial Institutions.
