Crusader Clinic Memory Diagnostic Center offers Hispanic interpretive services

The Memory Diagnostic Center (MDC) at Crusader Clinic on Broadway-Uram Building, Broadway & 7th, Rockford, has been offered the in-kind interpretive services of Maria Robles, Spanish interpreter with the AmeriCorps Legacy Corps of Lutheran Social Services of Illinois.

The Memory Diagnostic Center assesses for memory loss every Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A doctor, family member, friend, or the Visiting Nurses Association as well as other social agencies may refer a person; or the patients themselves may self-refer.

Robles will be available to interpret for the Memory Diagnostic Center’s Spanish-speaking referred patients during the one hour of comprehensive testing per patient each Tuesday starting Jan. 3, 2006.

While Legacy Corps members give respite to caregivers, Robles’ specific responsibility is to generate volunteers with the emphasis on recruiting Spanish speaking members. Robles is a senior at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill., where she is majoring in public health administration.

For a Crusader Clinic Memory Diagnostic Center appointment (Spanish-speaking or otherwise), call Lynn at (815) 490-1432. (Please note: The Center does not assess brain injuries.)
