Cub Foods supports The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

CHICAGO—Cub Foods, a long-standing sponsor of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk, has kicked off their annual Walk season by sellling Light The Night paper ballons through Sept. 30. The balloons are sold at all 36 Illinois and Wisconsin-area stores for $1 each, with all proceeds going to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In addition to selling balloons, new and returning Light The Night Walk participants can register for the walk at Cub Foods. Cub Foods has historically been a top fund-raising team for Light The Night Walk, raising more than $285,000 in 2004. Your balloon purchase brings them $1 closer to their 2005 goal of $300,000 and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Illinois Chapter closer to its goal of $1.7 million.

Light The Night Walk is a 2-mile, non-competitive walk to celebrate cancer survivorship and to commemorate those lives touched by cancer. Participants carry illuminated balloons, with patients and survivors lighting the way with glowing white balloons while friends, family and supporters carry red balloons. Funds raised through Light The Night Walk support the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society—to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

This year’s Light The Night Walk takes place in Rockford on Sept. 15 at Riverview Park. Check-in time is 5:30 p.m.
