Cudia celebrates Dr. Suess' birthday March 2 at Bloom School

Republican mayoral candidate Gloria Cardenas Cudia will celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday at Bloom School, 2912 Brendonwood Rd. in Rockford Wednesday, March 2 from 9 to10 a.m.

Initially created as a one-day event to celebrate reading on Dr. Seuss’ birthday, March 2, the National Education Association’s Read Across America has grown into a nationwide initiative that promotes reading every day.

“Reading to the children of Rockford Public School District No. 205 on Dr. Seuss’ birthday began for me when I served on the Rockford School Board from 1997 to 2001,” said Cudia. “I have been reading to the children ever since. The students and I have so much fun, and they especially enjoy my red and white hat.”

Cudia encourages all parents, family and friends to read to their children on a regular basis. This helps promote love of reading. Research has proven that children who are read to early in life tend to succeed at a higher level in school.
