Coping with the challenges of raising children can be very difficult for single dads. A new support group, offered by Rockford Health System and facilitated by single fathers, aims to help fathers gain a positive influence on their childrens lives. D.A.D.S., an acronym for Dads Assisting Dads Support Group, will focus on talking, listening, supporting and sharing information and ideas for fathers who may or may not have sole custody of their children. The group will offer support in areas such as child development, health, guidance, parent development, and family management. The program is free of charge. Meetings are held at Rockford Memorial Hospital, 2400 N. Rockton Ave., on the first and third Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. The group is scheduled to meet at the following locations: Oct. 1: Rockford Memorial Hospital, dining rooms 6 & 7. Oct. 15: Rockford Memorial Hospital, dining rooms 6 & 7. Nov. 5: Ingersoll Building on Rockford Memorial Hospital campus, classrooms 5 & 6. Nov. 19: Ingersoll Building, classrooms 5 & 6.
