All proceeds from this fund-raiser will support educational and counseling programs offered to at-risk youth at The MILL (Motivating Individuals for Learning and Living).
The MILL is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization on Elmwood Road in the northwest section of Rockford. Students are referred to The MILL because school or other treatment interventions have not been effective. Many have learning disabilities, substance abuse, or truancy issues that cause them to perform below grade level.
The agency provides comprehensive counseling and educational programs and reflects a diverse ethnic population. The MILL is currently serving 63 kids in its residential and day programs, of which half are from the Rockford vicinity. In addition, The MILL serves youth from several other counties in northern Illinois.
The MILL seeks to help abused, neglected and at-risk youth and their families to develop appropriate attitudes, behaviors and skills that lead to responsible and productive lifestyles. The MILL serves as a residential treatment center and therapeutic day school that focuses on positive outcomes for youth, ages 8-21.
Many youth have been rehabilitated. Their lives have been transformed at The MILL since its inception as a child care agency serving Rockford and the surrounding communities since 1978. The MILL, providing residential and day school programs, is licensed by the Department of Children and Family Services and approved by the Illinois State Board of Education.
