Racing fans and baseball fans will have an opportunity to get together and cheer for some hometown favorites tonight, Wednesday, May 30.
Indy Racing League star and former Roscoe resident Danica Patrick returns to Road Ranger Stadium for the Second Annual Muscular Dystrophy Jersey Auction.
Patrick, fresh off an eighth-place finish in the rain-shortened Indianapolis 500 last Sunday, May 27, will be at the RiverHawks game to meet with fans, pose for photos and sign autographs.
When the game begins, the RiverHawks will take the field in alternate jerseys modeled after Patricks racing suit. After the game, fans will have the opportunity to bid on those game-worn jerseys in a live auction. All the proceeds will go to benefit MDA.
At last years auction, Patrick was signing copies of her book, DanicaCrossing the Line. She also had her Indy car on display at the park, and she threw out the first pitch of the game. Her merchandise trailer was also there so fans could purchase everything from a Danica T-shirt to a life-size cutout of her wearing her racing suit.
The RiverHawks will take on the Traverse City Beach Bums in a 7:05 p.m. game. The gates to the ballpark will open at 5 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early. For more information or to purchase tickets in advance, call the RiverHawks box office at (815) 885-2255.
