Former Roscoe resident and local favorite Danica Patrick collected her second Top 10 finish of the IndyCar season April 23.
The Twin Ring Motegi was held in Motegi, Japan, Sunday, April 23. She started the race in 14th position, and managed to work her way up to the eighth spot when the checkered flag waved.
Patrick, the 2005 Indy Racing League (IRL) Rookie of the Year, is nearly as popular in Japan as she is in the USA. All week she was busy with multiple promotional stops and autograph sessions leading up to Sundays race.
Helio Castroneves won the race after leading all but 16 laps. In the season points standings, Castroneves has a 42-point lead over Dan Wheldon and an 87-point lead over Patrick. She is currently in 12th.
The IRL series returns to the United States for the 90th running of the Indianapolis 500 May 28. While Danica is home, she may be able to check out the newly-erected sign in her honor on U.S. 251. The sign is just north of the entrance into Roscoe at Elevator Road and 251.
