Deadline for medals nominations extended

The deadline for nominations for Rockford Sesquicentennial Medals has been extended to September 30.

To help celebrate the 150th anniversary of Rockford’s incorporation as a city, the 150th Anniversary Committee is seeking individuals, organizations or businesses that played a significant leadership role in making our community what it is today and are playing a significant role in making Rockford an even better place in the future.

Commemorative medals will be awarded in three categories. Founders-Leaders are those who have enabled Rockford to be what it is today. Futurists are those who have demonstrated guidance and direction for the future. Sesquians are those who have participated to make the Sesquicentennial celebration a success.

A special reception will be held in early December to honor the recipients.

Nomination forms are available at City Hall. Call the Mayor’s office at 987-5590 for more information.
